Following the company\u2019s efforts to grow demand for its high-value products in the retail market, The Kingfish Company is pleased to announce the first product to be available nationwide in Whole Foods Market stores in the US starting April 15th. Whole Foods Market, Inc. is an American multinational supermarket chain with a national footprint in the US.<\/p>\n

The product launching with Whole Foods Market US is the first ready-to-eat raw fish product introduced by Whole Foods Market. It is certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), and sets a new bar in sustainable, non-GMO, and antibiotics free high quality seafood.<\/p>\n

As part of its 2020 focus on retail, The Kingfish Company is now offering a suite of hi-spec retail ready products including skinless, boneless, fixed weight individually vacuum-packed portions, fresh and sashimi grade frozen. The full line of loin\/belly\/tail fixed weight retail ready portions is now available, with additional value added retail ready products in advanced development.<\/p>\n

The Kingfish Company is a pioneer and leader in sustainable land-based aquaculture. Current annual production capacity at its Kingfish Zeeland facility in the Netherlands is 1,250 tons of high quality and high value Yellowtail Kingfish.<\/p>\n

Expansion is underway and capacity in the Netherlands will reach 3,000 tons in the second half of 2022. In the US, permitting for the company\u2019s 6-8,000 tons capacity facility is progressing as planned, with production start scheduled for second half of 2023.<\/p>\n

Production is based on advanced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), which protect biodiversity and ensure bio security. Animal welfare is paramount, and the fish is grown without use of antibiotics and vaccines. Operations run on 100 percent renewable energy, sourced from wind, solar and biogas. The company\u2019s facilities operate on sea water, avoiding wasting of precious fresh water.<\/p>\n
